After marrying Dutch Prins Willem Alexander, Prinses Maxima has become increasingly popular in Holland. This has not gone unnoticed by commercial entrepreneurs, resulting in tens of Maxima websites, hats, clothes, posters and even herring. Whatever the intention, some of these products are illegal due to the use of the portret of Maxima or the use of her name for commercial winnings.
Only a few months after Maxima was introduced to the dutch people websites appeared using Maxima's name in the domain name or displaying pornographical material manipulated in a way that Maxima's face appeared on other people's bodies. The intentions in most of these cases were obviously false and very damaging to the reputation of Maxima and the Dutch Royal House.
In other instances, the bad intentions weren't that obvious, but the behaviour conducted by some people was illegal anyway. People were advertising their products as if Maxima was affiliated to their products or had given her special authorisation to carry her name. As was the case when a fish vendor advertised his herring as Maximaatjes. In Holland it is not allowed to use the name of a member of the Dutch Royal House to advertise your products for commercial profits.
Pretection conducted an Internet Quick Scan about the Dutch Royal House for the RVD (the Government Information Service), responsible for maintaining the integrity of the Royal Family. This Quick Scan contained valuable information about all websites infringing on the rights of the Dutch Royal House, the domain names carrying their names and the people responsible for all these actions.
Pretection International will help the RVD and the Dutch Royal House and its members to maintain their integrity.
